You know, when we mention mental and emotional health, a lot of people shy away from that topic, especially this part of the world where I’m from. Anytime words like mental, emotional and psychological are mentioned, people’s minds are already running towards one thought, “He/She is mad”. Another funny scenario is two people discussing and one of them is opening up to the other person about some emotional issues they’re dealing with and the listener says something like, “You should see a therapist/psychologist.”, the automatic response is, “I’m not mad. I’m fine. It’s normal.”

NO! IT IS NOT NORMAL.

A lot of people are going through serious emotional issues but because they don’t usually see people focusing on it, they assume that it’s Normal, so instead of talking to someone when they’re feeling overwhelmed, they would rather bottle it all up because they’re scared of being seen as, “Weak”, “Emotional” or “Mentally imbalanced”.

There are a lot of emotional issues out there that only escalates to mental issues when you don’t release the weight by dealing with it. Anxiety is an emotional issue, Paranoia is an emotional issue, Insecurity is an emotional issue, just to mention a few.

We need to pay more attention to our emotional health and stop bottling it all up, before it escalates to mental health problems and we need to start dealing with the mentality that emotions signifies weakness.

Needless to remind you all that Happiness is an emotion.

At this point I’ll drop my pen.

And pick it up next week Friday with the second part of this topic, where I’ll be discussing dealing with our emotions.

I wish you all an amazing weekend. Thank you guys for always.
